Busy, Busy, Busy!
Spring has sprung, well at least it is suppose to have. We have snow flurries coming and going but I refuse to let winter coem back. Which in my world means...it's time to hit the gym. (Which is code for an hour of uninterupted reading time, Yippee! Yahoo!) But don't tell, everyone just thinks I like to run. :) So in the past two weeks I have been able to finish two books. The first I gave a try because I was working with some revisions on my own book with Nobel Publishing. Nobel is an e-reader publisher and does some adult titles but also has some YA. So to see what they were all about I put a book on my Kindle. Amongst the Ruins, by Saewood Tice was my choice. Now the premise of this is right along the lines of a few other books I've read, world as we know it has come to an end and there are Zombie type people that are the bad guys. People have grouped themselves into tribes that specialize in different war skills. The main character is Shilo a young girl who is protected by her family due to her being fair in a world of brunettes. I actually really liked this story. It moved along well and in a world where woman are looked at as simply a means to have babies, it was fun to read about a strong main character. This publisher tends towards the more steamy of romance, but i didn't find it inappropriate. The only complaint I have is that the editing was not as sharp as I thought it could have been, especially as the book progressed.

A book that sticks with you!
Just finished Lone Survivor last night and have to say I can't get the story out of my mind. To the pt. where I have googled the members of the SEAL team just to get more information. I can not be more in awe of the Special Forces and feel I have not really understood the war we are in. Definitly recommend this book. Now the trouble is what to read next?

Change of Pace
Although I have downloaded the fourth book of the Mortal Instrument Series, I have not begun to read it. I gave my son the book The Lone Survivor, by Marcu Littrell, a few months ago. I heard about it on Twitter. Kiowa Gordon, from Twilight fame, recommended it as the best book he had read. Seeing as he is a boy, and the same age as my son I thought it might be a good fit. Not to mention my son is a Navy Seal Fan. My son begged me to read it so we could talk about it, so off I go... I am not done with the book yet but moving through it quickly. The writing is surprisingly good for an author that's first job is to defend our country. He has a voice that draws you into the story and adds a bit of humor and light political views. The only negative I have is that he tells the reader everywhere they are going and names many Taliban leaders. I am not familiar with the middle east and have difficulty with the names so tend to skim those areas and get to the characters. I will keep you up dated on my final thoughts.

The Mortal Instruments
I am in the third book of this series, by Cassandra Clare and I am in love with the writing. I have to admit that the terminology gets me some times. I am usually not a huge fan of alternate worlds and such, primarily due to my inability to get what all the names of different things mean, but the dialogue in this series is GREAT. It draws you into the characters. You know this series is a winner when you're standing on the stair stepper at the gym and a girls runs up to you to share her excitement and undying love for Simon. And I might add this has happened twice! I can't decide if I am excited to get the last book to find out what happens or hesitant to let this reading experience end.

That's YAmore blogfest
.
Here's my entry“Your power is strong, Emma. You’ll need it soon.” He kissed my forehead. “But right now you need my gift.”
Slowly and deliberately Solomon began to kiss my shoulders, turning me so he could run his fingers lightly over the bruises on my back. I could feel the warmth of his touch become more intense as he transferred the wounds of my body to his own. His kiss, his touch, sent shivers through me, taking all my worries and fears away. As if I was floating on a cloud, he turned me again. This time, he placed his mouth over mine for a long soul stirring kiss.
“I think you should watch those healing skills of yours,” I laughed.
“It isn’t my usual healing style.” He smiled mischievously. “It’s my touch that heals. I thought I would try something different this time,” he spoke as he continued to trail kisses across my shoulders.
“Well I give this technique high marks but have to wonder how the older men would like it,” I stuttered, trying to keep my thoughts coherent.
“Yeah, I like it too.” I felt him smile against my bare skin. “But I will reserve it for you.”
“Does it hurt you?”
“Not as much as it does you.” His hands moved softly over my bare arms. I watched as the bruises appeared on his, then slowly faded away.

Wow
It has been ten to twenty books since my last post. Life gets away with you while I'm trying to read and help other authors while I'm working on my own writing. Not to mention reading great books. Spring is on it's well and hopefully so is better time management. :)
Just joined Oasis YA and hope to get involved in their Valentine romance group!
